Method 1: How to add music files to Google Slides
To add local music files to Google Slides, you need to prepare your local music files. If you don’t have songs on your computer, you can read how to download songs from the Internet first.
Follow these steps:
Step 1: Download music files to Google Drive
Open Google Drive in your browser drag and drop music files (MP3, WAV) from your local folder to Google Drive.
The download speed will then be displayed in the bottom right corner of the browser.
Step 2: Paste the music files into Google Slides.
Open Google Slides in your browser, click Insert on the menu bar and select Audio from the drop-down list.
And a popup window will appear where you can select the music files that you have uploaded to Google Drive.
Then the format options section will appear on the right. You can select Start Play > Automatic if you want it to play background music automatically. You can also change the volume of the background sound.
When you make a presentation, make sure that the network is working because the song won’t play even if you set it to be available offline. However, you can play the background sound when you edit it.
Method 2. How to add YouTube videos to Google Slides
If you don’t want to upload songs to Google Drive or download songs with this tool, you can also find a song on YouTube and then paste it into Google Slides by following these two steps.
Step 1: Add a video to Google Slides
Open the video you want to add, copy the link to that video from the address bar. You’d better find a video longer than your presentation because the video can’t replay it.
Switch to Google Slides, select Insert in the menu bar and choose Video from the drop-down list.
And the window pops up, paste the URL in the search bar, click the magnifying glass icon on the right.
Step2: Change the play mode and hide the video
Then you can watch the video. Double-click it, then the format settings section will appear where you can decide how to play the video.
Go to video playback mode, click Play (by click) and you will see three options:
- Play (by click): The video will play when you click on the side.
- Play (automatic): The video will play automatically when it is in presentation mode.
- Play (manual): The video will play if you click the video on the slide.
Scroll down to select Size and Rotation, you can reduce the size of the video by editing the width and height values. And move it to the gray area, then it will hide when you do the presentation.
Method 3. How to add a link to a song in Google Slides
If you want to directly add a link to the background music, make sure the song is available in the web player.
Here we show you how to add a link to share iTunes songs in Google Slides:
Step 1: Open iTunes on your PC (if you’re using a Mac, open the Apple Music app), right-click on the song, choose Share Song > Copy Link.
Step 2: Go to Google Slides, right-click the text box. Then select Link in the popup menu paste the link. And you’ll see a window-show.
Paste the link in the search bar and click Apply button.
You need to play the music and then go to the Google Slides tab to continue your presentation.
With the three methods mentioned above, you’ll learn how to add music to Google Slides with music files, YouTube videos, or a link to a song. Just choose the one you want.
For example, if you want Google Slides to automatically play or loop background music in your presentation, you should add music files to Google Slides.
Moreover, if you don’t have music files on your computer, you can download them from the Internet using a music downloader. Or insert a video into your Google Slides that can play automatically but does not support looping the track.
Don’t forget to pay some attention to choosing appropriate background music, as this is an important part of a great presentation. Good luck with your presentation!
